John Kim is a proven executive and entrepreneur with a two-decade track record of building transformative technology businesses at scale — including PayPal, Expedia Group, and Vrbo. He is a master of translating emerging technology into compounding enterprise value, with a repeatable playbook for driving hyper-growth across products, platforms, and marketplaces.
 

As President of Vrbo, John led the company’s complete reinvention—from a subscription-based classifieds model into a modern, data-driven e-commerce platform. Under his leadership, Vrbo became a core pillar of Expedia Group’s growth and a global category leader. Prior to that, as President of the Expedia Marketplace, he oversaw the strategy, product, technology, and operations across all of Expedia Group’s consumer brands, driving alignment between data science, supply, and demand to accelerate growth across the portfolio.
 

As Chief Product Officer at PayPal, John led global product strategy and innovation, developing next-generation experiences that advanced PayPal’s position as a leader in digital payments. Earlier in his career, he helped pioneer the paid search industry at Overture, one of the earliest internet unicorns, and later held senior roles at Yahoo! and Accenture, where he honed his ability to build at global scale.
 

Today, as Founding Partner at VQ Capital and Senior Advisor to Permira, John applies his AI Transformation Playbook to modernize and scale portfolio companies—embedding AI-native capabilities, reshaping operating models, and unlocking new growth curves across industries.
